Frequently Asked Questions
How did the Chambers start?
The initial concept and idea came from 2 of our local senior Consultants Mr Omar Khan - Consultant General Surgeon and Dr Chris Parnell - Senior Consultant Anaesthetist. Following discussions with GP's and other Consultant colleagues it became clear that in these changing times in the NHS a different model of service delivery was needed.
What is a Clincians Chambers?
An organisation owned and run by local Medway Clinicians all being equal partners run along similar lines to a Law firm Chambers.
I am an NHS patient... what does this mean to me?
Under the National Patients Choice initiative it is now the patient who in consultation with your GP can make an informed choice about who you would like to manage your care and Health needs.
What are the advantages to ask my GP to be referred?
There are many advantages but by far it is about being seen by senior local Consualtants, in a very short time, in a modern, local to the patient, clean and safe enviroment. Knowing that your continuity of care is fixed.
Will I be able to speak to real people if I want to find out more?
Yes, our local staff will speak to you directly, really ring you back when they say that they will and be able to talk to the Clinicians.
What does it mean to GP's?
One of the areas that became very clear at the beginning was that local GP's wanted a high quality service delivery model, which enabled them to refer to local and well known senior Clinicians and Health professionals. Knowing that services would remain in the locality and local Health economy and that should they have concerns or questions about their patients that they could talk directly to them.
