Claudia Parnell |
Claudia Parnell has been the lead specialist for Tissue Viability and Wound Therapy for Medway Primary Care Trust since March 2000. Prior to joining Medway PCT she worked in Greenwich as a community nurse and professional advisor for community nursing. Claudia also gained experience and qualificatiosn in burns and plastic surgery nursing at Queen Mary's University Hospital, Roehampton. In 2003 she gained further experience of managing traumatic and ballistic wounds while working in Iraq as a nursing officer with Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps.
As part of the Medway PCT Tissue Viability and Wound Therapy service, Claudia and her specialist nursing team provide wound and vascular clinics for mobile patients of any age with acute, chronic and post operative wounds and compromised circulation. Patients with complex wounds are also seen in all areas of Medway PCT and the Swale locality of Eastern Kent Coastal PCT. These areas include home visits, nursing home, community hospitals and the prison service. More recently as part of her master's degree in advance nursing practice, Claudia has completed minor skin surgery and skin biopsy training.
When not at work, Claudia enjoys watching her two sons play rugby, going to the theatre - particularly Noel Coward plays, wandering around antique shops and going to air shows in the summer. In winter she goes skiing but this is more for fitness than enjoyment!
